Recent buys ♡

image

Hello all, tonight I thought I would make a post about some of the things I've picked up recently. Not insanely exciting, sorry !

Alright, so I went to the mall last week with my sister and picked up some new wallflowers for summer because I'm out of all the ones I got for spring and they had a special offer on. I already plugged in the Mango one (I think it was Mango and something, idk it's fruity and lovely) but I loved the smell of the white barn one so I'll use that one next. I love lighting candles but with juggling 3 jobs and everything I'm not home as often, so it's nice to have the room smelling nice all the time without having to light a candle.

A few days ago I went to Shoppers Drugmart to get some basics. I got some body lotion because it's getting crazy dry here and my skin is suffering, and also a new lotion for my face because after trying out those two Alyria products my face has been so dry and patchy. I used to use the Nivea Soft (below) but stopped because it was a bit too heavy for my skin, I think my skin really needs some extra hydration at the moment though. I also got some Simple make-up wipes because they do they job really well and I'm almost all out of my Bioderma make-up remover :< I also re-purchased the Gosh eyebrow pencil in 01 Brown. This is my favourite drugstore eye-brow pencil and I'm getting low on the one I have (the Anastasia brow pencil's my all-time favourite but it is rather expensive).

I was also at a Chapters bookstore and I always get distracted by those cute and random knick-knacks they have, and I saw this:

image Adorable, yes ? And it was only $5 ! I saw it in another shop a few days earlier and it was $10 ! So of course I got it.

Lastly are those two Alyria products (does anyone else think of She's The Man when seeing the name of this brand?) I went to the dermatologist last week, and he prescribed me some pills that I have yet to take, and also this cleanser and moisturiser. I used them both for about five days, I was told to use the cleanser each morning and night, and the moisturiser just at night. I could tell even after the second day that the cleanser dried my skin right out, it was getting super flaky and patchy, and I think it broke me out too. So I've stopped using it, I might go back and try it when I get my medicine though. Has anybody else tried this brand ? I'm really not so sure about it, especially since I'd never heard of it before.

That's all for now folks ! A big shout out to my followers, Jessica and Andrea. image You may be few in number, but you give me hope and want to keep posting, thank you ! c:

April Favourites ^◡^

image
My first favourites post, whoo ! I love to watch/read about beauty youtubers/bloggers monthly favourites so I decided to do one myself. I think for the month of May I'll have to take note of things I like because when it gets to the end of the month it takes me forever to remember if it was a new product I tried that month or not, and what I really enjoyed. I'd like to take my own photos for the next post too, makes it more personal methinks.

First off is the Physician's Formula Black Liquid Eyeliner, it's supposed to be a 2-in-1 lash booster and eyeliner. I have pretty sparse/short lashes, but I actually didn't buy this in the hopes it would lengthen my lashes, I was recommended it by a friend and the lash boost was a nice suprise. I think it does a slightly noticeable job at boosting the lashes, but what I like most about it is the fine applicator tip and the great pigmentation. I still prefer my K-Palette eyeliner, but this one is a close second ! I'd definitely try it out, especially since you can get ahold of it a lot easier than the Asian brand eyeliners. You can get it from Ulta, or any store that carries drugstore make-up.
Second is the LashBlast Fusion mascara by CoverGirl (I also get the waterproof kind in the darkest shade they have). I used to use the orange volumising mascara by CoverGirl, but I've switched to this one since my mum picked it up for me instead of the orange one. It never clumps (which is one thing I dislike about the orange mascara), and gives a more natural look/finish, which I much prefer to the 'insect-leg lash' look !
Next up is the Physician's Formula Powder Palette. I get the medium skin-tone shade. I've been loving this powder this month because it's so much lighter on the skin than my MAC one, so I like to wear it during the day at work. I used to use this when I was about 15 or 16, but haven't got it since it's so expensive ! The MAC foundation is a very similar price and lasts far longer, but when I was in the States it was one sale for $8 ! It's usually $25 - $30 CAN ! Complete rip-off, so I only buy it when it's on sale eheh yes I love a bargain.
Moving onto my favourite body cream at the moment ~ The Daily Smooth by Soap and Glory. I could go on forever about this, it smells SO good, that signature Soap and Glory scent, mmm. It makes my skin so soft and silky, and my skin is so dry at the moment, it is just perfect !
The Mint Julips by Lush is next on my list; I've had this product for ages, but stopped using it for awhile. My lips have been super dry and sore this month, I have no idea why, so I rub some of this on to soften them back up and apply some Vaseline. This is my all-time favourite lip-scrub.
Lastly is the Banana Conditioner by Body Shop. I bought this at the very end of March but used it all through-out April and I simply adore it ! It makes my hair so soft and silky, and smells oh-so good. I think it would be better for those with drier hair, because I find that mine is oilier at the top and dry/brittle at the ends, so by the time day-two hair comes around the top of my hair is a little oilier than before I switched to this product. Nothing some dry-shampoo can't fix though.
I never know how to finish posts. . . like this I suppose ! I have a mini-haul up in the next few days, so stay tuned !

OOTD ~ Spring Sunday

 Outfit of the Day
This outfit is from Sunday the 5th of May, but better late than never right ? My friend decided to snap some photos of my outfit at church because it was the first time I had no black in my outfit ! (My tights were admittedly black, but when worn they looked dark brown, so we let it slide). Black is my staple and go to colour/shade/tone so this was a pretty big step for me. The weather here has gotten so hot all of a sudden, so I decided to wear something more summery to church, here it is :

Cardigan and Skirt ~ H&M | Peplum Top ~ New Look | Belt and tights ~ Forever 21 | Shoes ~ Aldo
My cardigan is a peach-ey colour in real life, and my belt is a baby/pastel-pink colour, so they should have clashed but they actually looked alright ! Excuse my rubbish poses (and awful lighting), I never take selcas or photos in general so I have no idea how to pose, and my face, well yes, we'll leave that up to your imagination haha

And another shot without the cardigan, the point was to see more of the peplum top's shape, but I put both hands on my waist so it defeated the purpose image I'll get better at posing, I hope.

Apologies for the impromptu Hiatus

image

I just wanted to apologise to anyone who has been following/reading my new blog for the 10 or so day hiatus I had ! I'm so sorry ! I have been so busy these last couple of weeks, I got a second job on top of my full-time day job as a Pre-School Teacher's Assistant to earn more for university, plus more responsibility at church and home, plus friend's weddings coming up, and many other boring details I won't go into. Excuses, excuses ! I'm trying my best to get back up to date with my blog, because I enjoy writing posts and reading blogs too much to neglect it, so expect regular posts again. I'd like to have one a day, but with my workload that may be unrealistic. So some days I may have 2 posts, and others I may have none, apologies in advance. I already have an OOTD typed, edited and ready to go for when I get back from work tomorrow ! And I'm working on an April favourites post.

Well, it's so late here and I work early, so good night all !

Room Tour ♡

image

Today I have a room tour for you all ! I was cleaning my room (don't you love doing Saturday jobs) and decided to organise it a bit more because I have been rather lazy with putting things away this week. After I cleaned up it looked so nice and I remembered Princess Bri's Room Tour and thought, Why not make one myself !? So here we are.
This is my third bedroom in Canada, the first was only for a few months, the second was so spacious and in the basement of my family's house, I had that one for two years and loved it ! We've been in this newer house for two years, and I didn't get a bedroom because I am at uni for 7 months of each year. But since I took a year off I was allowed my little sisters room, and she now shares with my other younger sister. I took the photos with my Blackberry so I apologise for the ugliness ! On with the tour:

Lets start at the door and work our way to the left. I bought a plain white coat hanger for my door from Ikea, less than $10 if I remember correctly. My usual winter coat is missing because I left it at my friend's place :< But I normally have my three winter coats hanging there. On the left is my bookcase, and on the right is my chest of drawers, laundry hamper and bunny slippers.

This is the top half of my bookshelf. I keep a few of my go-to body lotions and body mists there, plus my favourite summer perfume (can't wait to break it out again), along with my pills and jewelry glue. Top right is all four seasons of Ugly Betty, I am a huge Betty-head, I love this show to death. Then some magazines, books, empty/new journals, my easy Thai reference book and some pen pots. Bottom left holds all my books by J.K Rowling (I am a Harry Potter nerd and proud of it !), and bottom right holds the majority of my Mangas (two whole rows ooh yah !)

And the bottom half. That top left shelf actually has almost three full rows of books, I need to organise them a bit more. I'm currently reading Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe and One Day. More books and Manga on the top right. Bottom left contains my small (but growing) film collection along with (you guessed it) more books. I have some of my journals and sketch books on that bottom right shelf.

This is my bed ! (That line reminds me of Charlie from charlieissocoollike, anyone ?) Another reason I decided to make a special effort to tidy my room was because I got a second mattress for my day-bed, so now it's super high. It looks nice and cosy, and it is ! But I have to jump to get onto it, and it's difficult to lean down to reach things because it's so tall and I'm so short (5 feet, my friends) ! Most of my bedding I brought with me from England, but it was from Ikea anyway. Those two cushions on the right are from my sister, so they don't match, but I love cushions so I couldn't turn them away. You can also see my Cardcaptor poster and my Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone movie poster there.

The only window in my room faces the wall of the house next to us, so I get a lovely view and lots of lighting (not). In this corner I do my hair and make-up, I keep most of my make-up in those drawers so it's all nice and convenient. I realised after looking at this photo that my mirror still has the packaging on the side ! I've had it for two years as well ! I took them off immediately after haha

Look at that nice, normal mirror ! My clothes cupboard with my jewelry hanger on it. Nothing special.

Just a close up of my jewelry hanger because I think it's so cute, and I love my growing jewelry collection. I got this jewelry hanger from Claire's, I went in with one of my little sisters and it caught my eye because it's a birdcage !

And here's my clothes cupboard with the doors open. At the top I keep a box of old uni work books, my rucksacks, another box of random junk really, my stuffies, and empty/extra storage boxes. In the middle is an organiser from Ikea, it's super handy to have. I keep my scarves, leggings, shorts and tights in the boxes. The clothes to the left are my church outfits - so skirts and dresses, and also some cardigans. On the left are my 'regular' clothes, it looks messy but it's split up into sections of collared shirts, jumpers, cardigans, regular tops, etc. The bottom left houses a wicker basket for all my bags, most of which are neutral tones, I'd really like to get some pastel-coloured handbags soon though. Lastly the bottom right of my cupboard has my (slightly empty) shoe shelf, most of my shoes were downstairs at the the time.

A close-up of my cupboard, it makes me sad that summer is coming because I can't wear scarves anymore :c

And lastly is my chest of drawers. I was supposed to get white Ikea drawers to match my bed, but my brothers got them instead, so I have the mismatched ones, but I still like them a lot (better than nothing right ? I'm not complaining). It looks pretty cluttered, because it is ehehe I'm probably a borderline hoarder of junk, it's a bad habit, I'm just awful at throwing things out >__<" Well anyway, on the right is a desk organiser with (most likely) random things I don't need, my whiteboard for things I need to remember to do, my memory board that I made years ago, Old-Faithful/My Baby (my laptop), and some little drawers that hold my DS and games, jewelry that needs repairing  and phone cases.

Thanks for reading everyone (anyone ?) ! I hope you enjoyed my little room tour, I'll see you in the next post !
